National Bank Of Canada To Buy Back Up To $2.25 Bln Shares

(RTTNews) – National Bank of Canada (NA.TO), announced on Friday that its board has authorized a normal course issuer bid to repurchase for cancellation up to 10 million common shares, worth a maximum of $2.25 billion.

The bank said the buyback represents about 2.6% of its 382.8 million shares outstanding as of September 1, 2026, and is subject to approval by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada and the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The program is expected to begin on or around October 9, 2026 and run until October 8, 2027. Purchases will be made through the TSX or alternative Canadian trading systems at market prices, with repurchased shares to be cancelled.

On the Toronto stock exchange, shares of National Bank of Canada were gaining 1.31 percent, changing hands at C$212.14.
